World Views
I believe that carrying our own world views into college is not a bad thing. We are so used to them and they have become such a great part of us, that, in my opinion, it would be very difficult to come apart from them. Perhaps our academic world views taken with us could benefit to those we are just coming in to. Also, those we aquire in school can definitely be brought with us after we finish our education. If you think about it, school is exactly what a job is going to be like. Right now our schooling is our job. If we succeed in school using our original world views, we can still take those same one's to our future life and succeed in that, too.

"Perhaps our academic world views taken with us could benefit to those we are just coming in to. Also, those we aquire in school can definitely be brought with us after we finish our education". So the idea here is kind of like that old campfire song; "make new friends but keep the old, one is silver and the other gold," I think this is a wise perspective. Don't lose your unique "frame of reference," but keep adding more perspectives to it.
ReplyDeleteI agree that we carry our own world views into college. And that it also helps us become better. Your also right when you say school is our main job.
